ANGELINI OSTERIA RESTAURANT
Angelini Osteria is LA’s most celebrated destination for authentic Italian cuisine served with the highest level of hospitality. Angelini Osteria was opened in Beverly Blvd nearly 20 years ago. Their famous dishes are Linguine sea urchin and the sought after spaghetti norcina. I started this project with the hope of providing better online service as much as they have a long history as a restaurant.

Busy workers want to use their time more efficiently. Not everyone can go to the market, prepare food, and cook a lot of food to enjoy with their family. some people who don’t have time also want to eat good food with their family and enjoy it at home.
The problem
It would be nice to make a easy way to order and pay through a restaurant app on their phone so that they can easily enjoy quality food at home.
The goal
Duration
December 2022 - January 2023
UX designer leading dedicated mobile app and responsive website design from conception to delivery.
My role
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.
Responsibilityes
I conducted interviews with users and created empathy maps to understand the users. A primary user group identified through research was busy working adult who don’t have time to go to grocery shopping and cook meals. Research revealed that more office workers than I thought don’t have time to make food every day and are not good at cooking. so many users frequently order and eat food through apps because of time savings and convenience. They want to order good quality food more for their health instead fast food.
User research
TIME : Users are too busy to spend time on meal prep. And they don’t want to spend much time to order food on app either.
ACCESSIBILITY : When they need more detailed information about food like ingredients, the app is hard to get that information.
IA : Text-heavy menus in apps or just text without picture are often difficult to read and order from app.
Pain points
Persona 01
Camila is a busy working mom who needs easy access to quality food ordering options because she has no time to prepare and cook dinner for her family sometimes.
Problem statement
User journey map
Mapping Camila’s user journey revealed how helpful it would be for users to have access to a dedicated Angelini restaurant app.
Storyboard
I made this Storyboard based on the improvement opportunities of user journey map.
Competitive audit
An audit of a few competitors products helped and provided good direction for My health chart app.
I have organized the most selected and important categories by users and organized the detailed connection links within them to satisfy users in the easiest and fastest way possible.
Sitemap
I designed it with a simple and clear menu section. Large food images were included to help determine the menu.
Digital wireframes
Low-fidelity prototype
To prepare for usability testing, I created a low-fidelity prototype.
Usability study
STUDY TYPE : Unmoderated usability study
LOCATION : Los Angeles, Remote
PARTICIPANTS : 5 Participants
LENGTH : 30- 50 minutes
Parameters
Users want to have some “save or favorite” section for later order.
Users need to submit their order with more specific preference.
Users want to track their delivery food on the app.
Text on top and check out is too little small.
Findings
Mockups
High-fidelity prototype
The high-fidelity prototype followed the same user flow as the low-fidelity prototype. Design changes made after the usability study.
Link
I design for screen size variation included mobile, tablet, and laptop. I optimized the designs to fit specific use needs of each device and screen size..
Responsive design
Provided access to users who are vision impaired through adding alt text to images for screen readers.
Accessibility considerations
Used simple and well known icons to help make navigation easier.
From the users’ perspective, it’s great that they can order quality food at home anytime they want. Users got more food choice because high-end restaurant opens their restaurant’s app.
Impact
There were more demanding users than I thought. It is necessary to collect the opinions of users who have demanding needs and make good apps.
